Prince Philip Games(PPG)
A program of teams of 5 riders and 5 ponies doing gymkhana games on horseback, only four compete in each game. Riders must be under the age of 15 as of January 1st in each year to be eligible to play First Division Prince Philip Games. There are many fun games, to name a few: Sack Races, Team Relay Bending Race, Wheelbarrow Race, Egg & Spoon Race, etc.
Tetrathlon
A 4 phase competition including running, swimming, shooting(air pistols at targets), and riding (either Show Jumping or Cross Country) Top tetrathletes often progress to the Olympic sport of Modern Pentathlon.
Show Jumping
Probably the most famous of our equestrian sports, as it is the one seen at Spruce Meadows and the Royal Winter Fair. It is horse and rider going over a course of jumps with accuracy and speed.
Dressage
The 'ballet' of riding. The horse exercises a series of prescirbed movements with precision and grace. There is no jumping involved though.
Rally
Also known as Horse Trials or 3 Day Eventing. The horse and rider complete three phases: Dressage, Cross Country(over permanent jumps) and Stadium Jumping(like Show Jumping). Riders and helpers are expected to apply their stable management skills, as Rally often runs over a three day period.
Quiz
A non-riding competition event. It tests the knowledge at the D, C, and AB levels. Quiz is held at Regional and National levels.
